Tower Bridge, one of the London’s most famous landmarks, is both a drawbridge and suspension bridge on River Thames. It has two towers, in Victorian Gothic style, that are connected with two walkways that are constructed so they can resist horizontal forces from suspended parts of the bridge. Construction began in 1886 and lasted until 1894. The foundations consist of 70,000 tons of concrete and some 10,000 tons of steel were used for the structure covered in Cornish granite and Portland stone. The drawbridges are raised about 3 times a day to allow ships to pass.

CURRENT NEWS    WINTER/SPRING - 2024
It appears time                       moves faster as you grow older, hence the delay in getting our London Gallery online. It's still a work in progress but progressing :) Sue and I enjoyed our past visit to Catania, Sicily last fall and are planning a trip to Palermo on the western side of the island later this year. Cheers!.... Til later
